Today for President's Day I read this book to my kids about George Washington. After we read it, we made a bubble map about all of the facts they heard from the story. Next, each student traced the hat onto red, blue, and white paper. They cut it out and on each side, they chose one fact from the bubble map and wrote it on their hat. I stapled them together and now they can wear them around for the rest of the week. Easy and cute!
(I have included a picture of the template for the hat.)
"His birthday was February 22."
"He was presadent for 8 years."
"He love to ride horses."
(Sorry it is kind of hard to see, but I don't have a scanner handy!)
Please please please let me know what you think of things I post! I love blogging and sharing ideas, but I want to know if what I post is interesting or helping anyone! Thanks :)
Cute idea!

This activity is good in so many ways. My favorite part is the large writing on the hats and wearing them all week. Your students are reading each others hats all week. They will be reading the moving information on each other's heads all week. The president facts will be stuck in their heads forever.
ReplyDeleteJust found your blog! I am keeping this idea in my file for President's Day. Thank you!
